Hear a table read
Press play and the whole script reads itself aloud — every character, performed.
- Open your script and tap Table Read.
- Pick the scenes you want to hear.
- Tap Start Table Read.
A narrator reads the scene headings and the action; everyone else speaks in their own voice. While it plays, switch between Stage — the cast around a table, whoever's speaking lit up — and Script, a scrolling transcript.
Cast it however you like
Subtext casts every part for you, so you can just press play. But the setup screen is yours to change, and the new voice takes over from that scene on.
- Tap Narrator to change who reads the scene headings and the action.
- Under Cast the leads, tap any character to hear the voices and pick one. Smaller parts are cast automatically.
- Set Announce names to Every line, Once a scene, or Never — how often the narrator tells you who's speaking.
